NHS Borders Multiple Sclerosis Specialist Nurse
The NHS Borders Multiple Sclerosis specialist nurse service is based at Borders General Hospital (BGH) and covers all of the Scottish Borders.
The service is available 22.5 hours per week; Monday- Wed, 9.30-5.30pm. Out-patient clinics take place at BGH, Peebles and Eyemouth; and people may be seen in their own home also.
The MS Nurse Service is available to anyone with a confirmed diagnosis of MS. You can either self-refer or ask your GP or consultant neurologist to refer you.
People in most need are seen first. For this reason it is useful for some information; your full name, date of birth, address and telephone number, why you are being referred, as well as who is making the referral, and your GP, if this is not who is making the referral. Once your referral has been accepted, you will be offered either, an outpatient appointment at one of the local hospitals, a home visit or general advice over the telephone.
You can contact the MS Nurse by phoning the number below. This is a 24 hour answer phone. If no one is available at the time of your call you will be contacted as soon as possible. This may not be the same day. Please leave a brief message with your name and number.
